jardin

i love a garden, but my garden is a passion. kris gave me a sign that says 'a garden is a friend you can visit anytime'. i am so happy when i'm weeding, watering, planting, picking, just enjoying.

yesterday i spent the afternoon and evening in the yard. jared played in the sand while cleared peaches from the grass and walkway. i used my magic compost to plant some tomatoes - that went straight into the ground because matthew dear killed the gopher.

my favorite flowers and plants are adopted or saved from the trash. i have been know to stop at a green bin on trash day and pull out great plants! friends know they can give me plants they don't want and i will come dig them out, love them and put them in the yard and call them '*you-who's* plant' (insert name)

i have learned so much about gardening from from my grandma maudie. she spent hours a day in the yard, weeding, planting and savoring the yard while sitting on the back porch.

last time i was in colorado i brought back peony, lilac, and iris plants from her yard. the peonies have been at my grandparents home for 50+ years and 50+ in utah, lovely little antique flowers!

next time i go back might be the last time i have to bring plants home. i have 100+ year old roses to bring back too!
