enduring craziness is so much easier with flowers - that's my justification for taking a me day to beautiful FILOLI estate and gardens. i have wanted 'to go to that place' for years and could never coordinate the right day - i said i'm going even if i have to wear tenni-runners so i can see the place before i have to get home when school gets out. yes i drove like it was the 580/san mateo/280 grande prix - just move when you see the speedy van coming- jeeze!!! and had to power stroll the mansion and grounds - shop fast for a token to remind me of my blissful moment. short, sweet with lots of photos

i love a garden, but my garden is a passion. kris gave me a sign that says 'a garden is a friend you can visit anytime'. i am so happy when i'm weeding, watering, planting, picking, just enjoying. yesterday i spent the afternoon and evening in the yard. jared played in the sand while cleared peaches from the grass and walkway. i used my magic compost to plant some tomatoes - that went straight into the ground because matthew dear killed the gopher. my favorite flowers and plants are adopted or saved from the trash. i have been know to stop at a green bin on trash day and pull out great plants! friends know they can give me plants they don't want and i will come dig them out, love them and put them in the yard and call them '*you-who's* plant' (insert name) i have learned so much about gardening from from my grandma maudie . she spent hours a day in the yard, weeding, planting and savoring the yard while sitting on the back porch. last time i was i...
